NetEase listened to community feedback and announced some buffs and nerfs coming in Marvel Rivals Season 3.

Usually, NetEase waits until a seasonal update to make more balancing changes, but the devs sprang into action and addressed outliers in the current meta on June 19 with a string of buffs and nerfs. The update buffed Moon Knight and Star Lord, while nerfing Storm’s Ultimate.

The update ultimately didn’t shift the meta much, as the buffed Duelists still didn’t get picked much, and the usual suspects remained untouched. Season 3, which starts on July 11, addresses those discrepancies.

NetEase lead combat designer Zhiyong admitted, “First, the new triple Strategist comp with Ultron joining traditional double Strategist teams proved highly competitive this season. Ultron’s formidable damage output lets him rain destruction on the enemy back line from above, maintaining relentless pressure, with his drones providing automatic healing, he can swiftly power up his Ultimate ability, opening the door to even more tactical maneuvers for his team.”

As for the other preferred combo, “rush downc comps built around two hit-scan duelists, either both ranged or mid-ranged… paired with double shield Vanguards performed strongly,” Zhiyong said.

This opened the door for Wolvering to thrive again, as he is the perfect counter to shield Vanguards, because he can isolate them and remove them from the battlefield.

With all of that in mind, here are some of the balancing changes.

Regarding The Thing’s new ability, NetEase revealed plans to add more similar abilities for other Vanguards in future updates.

“We will keep exploring options like this, giving Vanguards more options against aerial threats,” although these changes will be rolled out gradually as we test and refine them in the upcoming seasons.”

There will be more buffs and nerfs in the official update. Which balancing change are you most excited for? Let us know on the Insider Gaming Forums.
